The extraordinary journey that began in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children continues as Jacob Portman and his newfound friends journey to London the peculiar capital of the world. But in this war-torn city, hideous surprises lurk around every corner. Like its predecessor, this second novel in the Peculiar Children series blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography to create a one-of-a-kind reacting experience. I enjoyed this book even more than Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children! It was much more fast paced and had more character development, completely action packed! I loved hearing more back story for some of the peculiar children and meeting all the new characters. I really liked Addison the talking dog.

There was a big twist at the end, which was something that I didn't see coming at all and it was fantastic! I do wish the book had a few more twists and turns throughout, that being said, it was a great adventure story.

I think my favourite character in the whole book was Hugh! He was quite the hero, and here I thought the bees were a silly ability to have! They sure did come in handy! I also always love Millard as well, you could see how while at times his invisibility was hard on him, he always stayed positive about it! I don't even think I need to say it... but Enoch sucks! He is such a Negative Nancy!

I love the way Ransom Riggs uses photographs to tell this story. I found the photos in this book to be less creepy than in the first book, but I still enjoyed them. I always looked forward to the pictures. The only issues I have with these books is that there are some parts that can kind of drag on a bit, and I do find you really need to be in the right mood to read these books, otherwise they take a while to get through.

If you have read the first book I for sure recommend continuing on with the story. I will be interested to see how the story concludes in the final book.

during the big twist... at first I was like...

Then i was like....
