At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

This book was a bit of a roller coaster! It was very captivating and it sucked me right in, that being said, it wasn't perfect and I did have a few issues with the overall story.

Things I loved about this book:

  • The writing style was fantastic, Colleen Hoover has a way with words for sure, I found myself getting lost in the story and had a hard time putting the book down at points.
  • I loved that it was told from duel perspectives. I always enjoy hearing from both the male and female leads when reading, it really gives you a fuller experience.
  • The characters, kind of.. what I mean by kind of is that I really liked the characters, I loved how different they all were and I thought that they were very relatable, I also enjoyed how they were in their 20's. I didn't however like all of their actions.
  • I loved the range of emotions that this book makes you experience, when something happy happens, you feel it, when something bad happens, you feel it even more.

Things I didn't enjoy about this book:
  • I found there was some repetitiveness in certain parts, which I felt could have just been left out.
  • The pacing did drag on a little during the middle and end of the book, and nearing the end I thought there were some very cheesy parts that I couldn't get into
  • The characters were a bunch of cheaters! ha I really can't let myself feel for these characters when I know they are doing something so wrong. I couldn't fall for Ridge, he came off as such a nice guy but when it comes down to it, he was an ass. Sydney included, for someone who had just been cheated on she sure didn't let that stop her. I understand the characters felt guilt and all that, but really in the end it comes down to being respectful to yourself and to your relationships and I just thought that was lost.

However, overall, the book was really good and I would for sure recommend it. Even though I had some issues with the book, I still rate it 4/5 because its written so well and was very enjoyable!
