Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies… (Goodreads)
Woa woa woa woa! Just so many things happened in this book its hard to even put my thoughts in order!

This was a pretty good second book to the series, although I didn't find it as strong as Obsidian. The story was still fast paced and exciting and the romance was great (although a little frustrating at times). I was missing Dee a bit in this book as she was hardly in it at all and I also found a few sections to be a little repetitive. Other than that, fantastic book! I can't get over Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing style, it has to be one of the most addictive I've ever seen! You just can't put these books down once you pick them up!

We had a few new characters introduced in this instalment of the Lux series, the first being Blake, another being Will. You will find yourself second guessing both of these characters numbers times never really knowing what their deal is until much later in the book! I don't want to go into too much detail on the new characters, I'm just going to say that I don't like them! ha As for the old characters, Kat and Daemon, I still loved them and I liked that their banter between each other continued throughout this book.

The pacing of this book was great, I whizzed right through it.I definitely think this book to a few turns that I wasn't expecting.. in fact the major theme of this book threw me for a curveball, it was great! I'm really looking forward to seeing where this story will go next.

Blake is the hedgehog....
Every time Daemon shows up on Katy's doorstep, this is what he's thinking!
4.5/5 Albi Cats
