From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Words of Radiance, coauthor of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, and creator of the internationally bestselling Mistborn Trilogy, Brandon Sanderson presents the second book in the Reckoners series: Firefight, the sequel to the #1 bestseller Steelheart.

They told David it was impossible—that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet, Steelheart—invincible, immortal, unconquerable—is dead. And he died by David's hand.

Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life more simple. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And there's no one in Newcago who can give him the answers he needs.

Babylon Restored, the old borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though. Ruled by the mysterious High Epic, Regalia, David is sure Babylon Restored will lead him to what he needs to find. And while entering another city oppressed by a High Epic despot is a gamble, David's willing to risk it. Because killing Steelheart left a hole in David's heart. A hole where his thirst for vengeance once lived. Somehow, he filled that hole with another Epic—Firefight. And he's willing to go on a quest darker, and more dangerous even, than the fight against Steelheart to find her, and to get his answers. - Goodreads

I was not a fan of this book until about page 300, then BAM Brandon Sanderson punch to the face. Seriously though I was like "Brandon this isn't you, why so slow and meticulous?" Then all of a sudden I'm on a Sanderson roller coaster ride, a sander-coaster if you will. THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD. Ugh, how dare I doubt you Brandon. Honestly, as if you would ever let me down. Do you know what I hate though? "Sparks" as a swear word. Killed me. The entire book. Hate. It. Now I have to wait for the third, and it is the most unfortunate news of my week. Maybe I'll just go read mistborn again.

Wowza!!!

This book was such a mind bender! I literally don't know when to believe what Mara is saying and when to not, she doesn't even know herself!

There is definitely a creepy vibe to the book but not so much that I couldn't sleep! Every now and then I enjoy myself a nice dark read, something that really plays with your head!

If you're looking for a psychological thriller I would recommend this series, I'm super excited to finish it off with the last book!!

Oh Mara.... I don't know either!
Girl... I think you may have gone mad!!

Mara Dyer wants to believe there's more to the lies she’s been told.
There is.

She doesn’t stop to think about where her quest for the truth might lead.
She should.

She never had to imagine how far she would go for vengeance.
She will now.

Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story.

Retribution has arrived. - Goodreads

I'm not sure why so many people were so disappointed with this conclusion. I actually thought it was quite good! While it was a bit slower than the first two books, I still found it to have that creepy vibe and the story all came together for me in the end.

My main issue with this book was that there were too many of the "before" parts and I wasn't a fan of that story line.

Overall this is a great series! I listened to it via Audible and I thought it made great audiobooks!

Half Blood - Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals--well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is.

If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck. -

Overall I really enjoyed this book, my only issue with it was that I found it very similar to Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I wish I would have read this one first, because I really love Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing style!

I actually enjoyed the characters of this story more than I did th characters from Vampire Academy. I always love when there is a bad ass, independent woman in the lead role, which is exactly what Alexandria was!

I'm not 100% on whether or not I will continue with the series, still a little on the fence!

While reading this book i could help but thinking... this sounds familiar!
